My Experience:

Over the past 60 years, I have personal experience via  family members suffering from various substance and mental health issues.

 

I started training as a Psychiatric Nurse in 1970 & returned to qualify in 1988. Not planning it, I have specialised in Substance Misuse since then. My experience is  wide and varied  - NHS & Private Treatment in Community, In-Patient Services, Stabilisationation, Detox  and many Residential Rehabs. During this time I have supported clients as a Nurse Specialist, Head of Nursing, a Registered Manager  (CQC), a qualified Counsellor and partially trained psychotherapist.

Not yet ready to retire, I was approached to support  people detox safely and comfortably. Not many people with my experience and knowledge, I decided I could offer something on a more individual basis - thus my venture into Independent Nurse Prescriber Specialist for Substance Dependencies.

My qualifications are wide and extensive - I have an Hons Degree in Mental Health Studies with a Post Grad Diploma in Psychotherapy & Higher Award in Nursing.& Cert in Substance Misuse Nursing. A Registered Psychiatric Nurse, a Registered Manager, Diploma in Counselling, Certified Auricular Acupuncturist & few other qualifications. Most recently qualified as an Independent Nurse Prescriber. thus enabling me to offer my own prescribing service.
